For the Love of the North's Father's Day Gift Guide

June 10, 2021 4 min read

We don't know about you, but Father's Day has really crept up on us this year. It can be so difficult to find a gift that's appropriate for Father's Day, so we've decided to release our ultimate For the Love of the North Father's Day Gift Guide.

Many of us have spent a long year apart from our Dad, so this Father's Day needs to be the best yet! From A4 prints to bone china mugs, our For the Love of the North store has the perfect gift for your Dad.

Now that covid restrictions are easing, you can come and pick out the perfect gift from our store at Spanish City. If you don't have time to pop in, don't worry, you can still order online. All of our online orders come wrapped in brown paper that's tied with string and can be delivered to your address or straight to your Dad's house. You can even add a small message for free by typing it out in the Notes section of your order.

Make sure to tag us in all of your Father's Day pictures, we'd love to see how you're spending the day!

For the Dad who just can't stop working

If your Dad is always at his desk working, it can be difficult to peel him away for a Father's Day celebration. We've picked out the best gifts you can get for your workaholic Dad this Father's Day:

Pilgrims Coffee
We sell a range of luxury coffee that has been brewed up North on Holy Island. We absolutely love this coffee because of its connection to the North East, and it tastes amazing!
Choose between:
- Daily Bread £7.50: This is a full bodied coffee with undertones of chocolate and hazelnut.
- Holy Grail £8.50: This is a strong coffee with fruity undertones of tangerine, mango, and clove.
- Decaf £8.50: This coffee is perfect for anyone needing to cut down on caffeine and has a delicious aftertaste of chocolate.
You can either purchase the coffee ground or in beans.
Of course, you can't just give your Dad a coffee without a cup to put it in! Shop our range of exclusive bone china For the Love of the North mugs, or look below to see some of our favourites.

In order from left to right: Mouth of the Tyne mug, Newcastle mug, Sycamore Gap mug and coaster, St Mary's enamel mug. All of the mugs in our store range between £12-£14.

For the sci-fi Dad

If your Dad is a bit of a nerd when it comes to all things science fiction, we've got the best selection of Star Wars inspired gifts.

Our wonderful pin badges can be slipped inside a card as the perfect token for those sci-fi mad Dads!

Each pin is £7.50 and we have a Boba Fett, Darth Vader, Stormtrooper, and 'May the North Be With You' available.

Or, if you're after something a little larger, we have this fabulous Geordie Storm Trooper A4 print for any NUFC fans! The print is a   standard A4 size and comes in at £14.

If you're wanting to treat your sci-fi Dad to something a bit more extravagant this year, why not go for our miniature Cyber Angel? This ornament is made with ceramic by hand in the North East. It's a blend of our iconic Angel of the North and one of our favourite Doctor Who villians- the Cyberman.

The Cyber Angel is exclusive to For the Love of the North and is priced at £22.

For the Dad who is trying to become more sustainable

These days we're all trying our best to make more sustainable choices in our everyday lives. If you have a Dad who is trying his best to choose more environmentally friendly options, we have the perfect gift for you.

One of our favourite sustainable products at For the Love of the North are our fabulous reusable sponges. You'll receive two sponges in each pack, one soft, one scrubby. Each sponge is filled with an antibacterial bamboo filling and they can be composted when they get a bit too tatty.

You can choose between three different designs: deck chairs, beach huts, and lighthouses. Each pack is £10.

When we're trying to encourage sustainability in everyday life, we always recommend purchasing a tote bag. Tote bags are a fantastic alternative to single-use carrier bags and are also a bit of a fashion statement! The totes we stock at For the Love of the North are made with organic cotton and vegan inks making them even more sustainable than usual!

We absolutely adore this green and white canvas Newcastle tote bag which is priced at £12.

For the Dad who is football mad

So many of our products are influenced by the two footballs giants of the North East, Newcastle United and Sunderland A.F.C.

Just like the Cyber Angel, we also stock figurines inspired by Newcastle United Football club. The figure is handmade in the North East using delicate ceramic and is hand-painted in the classic black and white stripes of the team's home kit.  The Toon Angel is priced at £20 and makes an excellent gift for any football-fanatic Fathers!

Left to right: Geordie Boot Boys A4 print £16, Haway The Lads Sunderland card £2.75, Sunderland A4 £12.

For the Dad who loves getting crafty

We know that there's nothing more satisfying than cosying up and working away on something handmade. It can be difficult to find gifts for a Father who always makes everything for himself, but we think we may have a solution...

Our stitch kits are perfect for any Dads who are always looking for a new project. Each kit comes complete with a hoop, different coloured string, and instructions. The kits are £25 and each is inspired by one of our favourite places in the North East.

Left to right:  Roker Pier stitch kit, Herd Groyne stitch kit, Rendezvous stitch kit, Spanish City stitch kit.

A gift for the Mams...

We know that Father's Day isn't restricted to a day celebrating the men in your life. If you want to take the chance to say thank you to your Mam, take a look at the 'Mam, Mammy, and Nana' page on our website.
