Secret Art Sale 2024 - Ruth Bond

Categories

Born in Zambia, raised there and in Northumberland, Ruth trained in fashion and builtan award-winning interior designer business in Newcastle. Having worked and travelled in many countries across the globe, absorbing cultures, colours and the beauty of the natural world, she now works happily painting in oils, always from experience of the countryside she loves - the Northumbrian coast, Scotland, Canada, Italy and the very special Outer Hebrides.

Her work in the Hebrides has brought her considerable attention and during the
pandemic she produced her first book - a sell-out - The Outer Hebrides Captured, in happy conjunction with the poet, Peter Rees. She has exhibited on the Isle of Harris a number of times, and will be exhibiting there again in Oct 2024 and Aug 2025.

But she also has an enthusiastic following for her paintings of her own Northumberland Coast as a result of exhibitions in the North-East. Ruth has  always regularly walked the Northumberland Coast and painting the sky, seas and sands has been irresistible. Her paintings depict those walks and vistas, in all seasons and with all the moods of the sea and sky, for the delectation of other Northumbrians and Hebrideans who know and share that love of this amazing scenery – and perhaps to tempt others to discover our secrets.

A book, “Northumberland Captured” accompanies this exhibition and is
available to purchase as a souvenir of the exhibition and, of course Northumberland.
“Pendulum of Tides, Holy Island Causeway” is currently on show at The Baltic.
