After studying at Edinburgh in the 1980s, I returned to the North East of England where my creative practice is very much based in local culture, heritage, and community. I have an enduring fascination of the North East of England and its culture, and try to capture this through printmaking, most specifically relief print and intaglio.
Linocut is my preferred medium although my interest in printmaking covers monotype, screen printing, and drypoint. I continue to exhibit regularly, and to run workshops and events from my studio at the Biscuit Tin Studios in Newcastle, a former factory that very much retains a utilitarian vibe, and provides studio space and gallery to a diverse group of artists, musicians, and makers, working across a huge array of art forms.
